It gives me great pleasure to present this Practical Record Book of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology for the undergraduate medical students. Normally, the medical students have to fill up the practical record book as a part of their curriculum in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. I have visited many institutes in India for the examination and observed that at majority of the places these practical record books are incomplete and outdated in numerous perspectives due to the lack of consistency in the practical work. The approaches of the students to fill up these practical record books are different in deferent institutes at various states and hence there are inconsistencies in the learning process, which influences even their subsequent professional life too.
The contents of this book are having the most of the standard proformas commonly used for reporting of various medicolegal cases with a brief description of important points to learn before starting the particular exercise. Each proforma is carefully designed to help the students to get a thorough insight of the MLC cases. However, the students should have a sound knowledge regarding the medicolegal cases they are dealing with. This book is enriched with museum photographs, which will help the students to identify the various specimens in the examinations. The book adheres to our objective to provide a uniform standardized practical record book all over the country, which can help the undergraduate medical students to understand and present the matter in their examinations and subsequently in their medical practice during handling of medicolegal cases. This book reflects personal experience of almost 20 yrs.
