AbstractDeep vein thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary embolism (PE) are two symptoms of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Both in the community and in hospitals, VTE significantly increases morbidity and death. Anticoagulation is the cornerstone of DVT treatment, assuming there are no contraindications. Patients with DVT have further anticoagulation after initial anticoagulation in order to guard against subsequent recurrences, emboli, and thrombosis-related mortality. This article provides an overview of the management of lower extremity DVT.
