AbstractThe nutritional profile and health implications of Probiotics as a functional food and preventive medicine requires great importance in developing country like India. The results of this review indicates signs of success of probiotic products in the prevention of pathogenic microorganisms in adults and children, control of lactose intolerance, developing the nutritional status of the population, allergy prevention and as a substitute for vaccine in developing countries.
