AbstractThe results and discussions in this paper are based on the primary data collected from the professionals and semi-professionals working in 5 medical college libraries and 7 engineering college libraries in Coastal Karnataka through a pre-tested, structured, comprehensive questionnaire with a response rate of 86.24%. This paper reports on the views and perceptions of medical and engineering college library professionals in Coastal Karnataka in respect of their job, job environment and organization in addition to identifying and analyzing the key individual, work and organizational characteristics influencing their job satisfaction. This study finding has implications for human resource management research and practice in medical and engineering college libraries. The key issues considered were job rotation, work environment, leadership qualities and employee development. Superior subordinate relations in the organization have been discussed.
