AbstractThis study assessed automated information systems in two academic libraries in Nigeria; University of Lagos Main Library and Keneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan. Purposive sampling technique was used to determine the population of the study which comprises library users and staff. Six research questions were developed to guide the study. Data was collected through questionnaire and observation. The findings show that automated information systems in the two libraries are not fully utilized due to inadequate knowledge of the numerous benefits of the system. However, lack of funding, erratic power supply and inadequate orientation were identified as the inhibitors to the full utilization of the library facilities.
