Abstract Accreditation has been made mandatory by the University Grants Commission (UGC) three years back and hence many colleges have started submitting their Self Appraisal Reports (SAR). Preparation of Self Appraisal Reports and for Peer Team visits are challenging indeed, especially for the institutions aspiring for first accreditation. This article focuses on the assessor’s point of view, written with the expectation that this would serve as a useful guideline for such colleges. The earlier part of the paper deals with the author’s own experience as an assessor and the later part gives an account of dimension wise analysis of quality aspects stipulated by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
